I don't know about you but every time I see these carp streamers I can't help and think of Pokemon, Magikarp... so why not? Made a Magikarp Koinobori 😆
子供の日 (Kodomo no hi) Children's Day is celebrate on May 5th in Japan. During this week Japan is filled with Koinobori (Carp Streamers) decorating its streets and homes. The Carp symbolizes courage, strength, health, and perseverance because of its ability to swim up stream. The festival is meant as a way to celebrate and pray for good health and strength like a Carp, but also to celebrate and respect each child's own personality. Carp Streamers are hung in people's homes, these carps are different sizes and colors which represent the family. The largest carp on top represents the father, below the mother, and all the children below the mother.
